Investment Strategies ■ Mid Cap Value
Cooke & Bieler’s Mid Cap Value strategy has a performance record of over 10 years (since 1998). For performance purposes, we view the Russell Midcap Value Index as the primary benchmark.
We seek to outperform the benchmark by 150-200 basis points over the longer-term (five years or a market cycle). The expected pattern of results is to perform well in normal markets, exceptionally well in difficult or down markets, yet lag in exceedingly strong up markets.
The Cooke & Bieler Investment Team, utilizing a research intensive process, supports all of the firm’s strategies including Mid Cap Value. Our bottom-up emphasis results in a “stock picker's” portfolio. As with all Cooke & Bieler strategies, we follow a “high quality, low risk” approach, resulting in a diversified, fairly concentrated (not to exceed 50 stocks), low turnover (20-30%) portfolio.
